Moody Interiors
With the winter months upon us, now is the perfect time to create inviting, cosy spaces to cocoon in.
Deep navy or teal walls are a rich backdrop giving depth to a room. Curtains and blinds instantly add warmth as well as insulation. Fabrics in shades of warm terracotta, rust and mustard can be incorporated by reupholstering a sofa or chair. Lamps are a must for a soft glow to any room. Then layer with throw rugs & cushions to snuggle into with a good book.
Melissa In Europe
Last year Melissa got so much design inspiration from her trip to Milan, Venice, Lake Como, London & Scotland. Here is a small taste of some of the fabric houses & museums she saw. The full range of photos are on our Instagram highlights page.

Cat Resistant Fabrics
When it comes to our fury friends, many fabrics don’t stand a chance against their sharp claws.
A common question we get asked when we make new upholstered furniture or reupholster an existing piece is “are there any cat proof fabrics?” We have found that although nothing is cat proof, there are definitely fabrics that are more resistant to their antics. We avoid looped weaves as their claws can get underneath and pull at the threads. Flat or cut weaves such as velvet, suede and wool perform best and have a longer lifespan. Faux fur throw rugs works well as cats love to snuggle into them, and it also protects your furniture.
Bench Seat Cushions
Bench seat cushions don’t just have a functional purpose but can be a great way to add some personality to your space. We can custom make seat cushions to suit any shape and size whether it’s an angled bay window or a little curved chair. We have a comprehensive fabric range including those that are washable and stain resistant. We love to add a trim or contrast piping to add another level of detail. When it comes to window seat cushions, we often use outdoor fabrics as they have higher UV ratings, therefore are less likely to fade.
A Splash Of Colour
Here at Window Workshop, we aren’t afraid of colour. Being adventurous with colour doesn’t have to be limited to just artwork. Some of our favorite ways to incorporate pattern and colour are with bedheads, wallpaper, curtains, cushions etc. An interesting product on the market are these incredible timber rods that can be painted any colour. They are perfect if you want to add a splash of colour and personality to your room.
Custom Made Curtains
CURTAIN BLOG
We decided to write a comprehensive curtain blog as a good starting point for all of our clients when they are having custom made curtains. It covers all the things to consider such as the different types of curtains, headings, linings, rods and tracks, fabrics, tiebacks and trimmings.
Curtain rods are an integral part of a curtain, and the blog talks about the different styles of rods and tracks available and is accompanied by images. We also have all of these rods on display in the showroom with lots of full-length curtain displays to inspire your next project. You will find the blog on our Window Workshop webpage under ‘blog’ or click below.
